What a wonderful first day! It was so nice to meet you and I thank you for all of the classroom supply donations. The next few weeks we will be working on what our kindergarten expectations are with listening and following directions in order to be kind, safe, and responsible. Today we talked a lot about how many of us speak different languages. Sometimes our feelings get hurt if a friend doesn't listen the first time, when maybe they actually are not understanding. I am working on teaching the children to be understanding about this dynamic and how to use signs, or body gestures to communicate along with their words. We are a classroom family and we take care of each other! We are off to a great start!
This year, you may bring your child to the Mrs. Swales line (black line where we met today) every morning. If you will be picking up your child, I will be waiting there for you with your child after school as well. A form will be coming home on Friday asking how you would like your child to get home, whether it be by car line, walk up, or bus. For the first week transition, I ask that if you are picking up, we meet at the black line where we were at this morning.
Thank you and it was a pleasure meeting you all,
Melissa

Snack: A form will be coming home in your child's Friday Folder informing you of a snack program at Red Cedar. With this program, you are able to pay for snacks either for the entire year, or one semester at a time. The price is very reasonable and it really makes it easy on us parents. When sending in snack, please keep in mind that we have a classmate with a severe peanut, tree nut, and chick pea food allergy that is life threatening. We ask that you help us with keeping our classroom a safe place for all children that you choose snacks that are free of these products. Thank you in advance for your support. We will have snack every morning.
Dismissal: You will find a form in your child's Friday Folder where I ask that you write down your child's transportation at the end of the day. Sometimes children forget, or think they would rather make their own choice. With this information from you, I will be able to have them at the car line, walking line, bus lines, or B & A location without worry. Please return this form by Monday of next week.
